AI will help people control prosthetics

Scientists from the University of Minnesota have developed a system for controlling a robotic hand “with the power of thought.” The project’s authors are confident that invasive surgeries will soon be a thing of the past: brain signals can be read through a peripheral nerve. One of the pleasant prospects of this is the ability to remotely control smart devices. FBM

AI developed a drug against coronavirus – the drug will undergo preclinical trials

New York startup Insilico Medicine has created a drug development platform consisting of three components. The first one analyzes scientific articles, identifying genes and proteins associated with specific diseases. The second one creates molecular structures that interact with these proteins and genes. The third one predicts how the molecule will perform in clinical trials. The company took almost two years to select the most promising AI formulas from the proposed ones. Habr

Google has created its own neural network for generating images based on textual descriptions

The developer claims that Imagen understands complex queries better than OpenAI’s DALL-E 2. The company offered a focus group to compare illustrations created by different models. As a result, people more often preferred the artwork created by Google’s neural network. However, unlike DALL-E 2, Imagen currently exists only in a limited version: users are offered to choose words from a list. Habr
